Happy Birthday, Ku’damm!
In 2011 the famous boulevard Kurfürstendamm celebrates its 125th anniversary. The exciting mixture of shopping, entertainment, culture, living and working define the unique lifestyle around Berlin’s famous avenue.
On 5 May the festivities kick off with the official birthday party and the launch of the Breitscheidplatz exhibition site and the exhibition Der Kurfürstendamm. 125 years – 125 stories.
On 3rd & 4th September Ku’damm plays host to 42 hours of shopping, fashion shows, music acts, culinary arts and presentations from all 13 twinned boulevards including Calle Florida, Buenos Aires /Oxford Street, London /Novy Arbat, Moskau / Fifth Avenue, New York / Champs-Elysées, Paris und Kärntner Straße, Wien. From 12th to 23rd October the entire Ku’damm will be illuminated like never before in a cooperation with the Festival of Lights.
Between these main festivities there are many further events centred around 125 years Ku'damm. On the 28th & 29th May Ku'damm will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of the first car with an extravagant parade of over 1000 valuable automobiles. Other highlights include the planned "Road to the Future" held by the inter-trade organisation E-Mobilität in early July, and the annual Vattenfall City-Night Run on the 30th July, which additionally celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
