BMW AG Werk Berlin
The BMW Werk Berlin has been a member of the BMW factory alliance for over 70 years and contributed to BMW’s success from the very beginning. It all began in Berlin with the production of airplane engines, which was soon followed by automobile and motorcycle components. The factory in Berlin has been the only production site for BMW motorcycles since 1969, while their engines and components are made worldwide. More than 1,900,000 BMW motorcycles have rolled off the line since then – an annual rate of 100,000 bikes – and also over six million automobile brake pads.
BMW Motorrad provides the market with large-volume premium motorcycles in the segments known as Enduro, Urban, Sport, Touring and High Perfomance. Customers can choose from 44 motorcycle models with up to 22 different colors and over 200 optional equipment features. Customer preferences are the focus at BMW, and this allows the company to succeed in a highly volatile and seasonal market by means of volume flexibility and the quick and adaptable adjustment of its working-time models. BMW’s customer-oriented sales and production process also makes it possible to change order specifications up until right before production – a unique feature in the world of motorcycles. A workforce of roughly 2,000 is currently employed in Berlin, each of whom influences BWM’s brand image, its products and production: innovative spirit and uncompromising quality standards combine with a fascination and passion for maximum sporting performance.
