Join us at the Bibendum Challenge

The Bibendum Challenge took place on May 18-22, 2011 in the Berlin district of Tempelhof. Roughly 5,000 participants from the fields of auto manufacturing, energy supply, equipment and accessories joined with political and business decision-makers to take part in this environmental summit on sustainable road-traffic mobility. Together they presented the latest ideas and innovations in sustainable mobility.

One special highlight of the events was the Bibendum Challenge Parade: On Thursday, May 19, roughly 100 vehicles gathered on Berlin’s Strasse des 17. Juni Boulevard and in front of the Brandenburg Gate to showcase the latest developments in green mobility to the general public.

The be Berlin capital city marketing campaign joined with Berlin’s Agency for Electromobility (eMO) to organize the parade of electric vehicles, and it will be launched together with strong, Berlin-based electromobility partners. For example, the Berlin-based electric motorcycles known as eROCKITS will lead the parade. eROCKITS are hybrid bicycles that generate electricity via pedaling, which allows them to integrate perfectly into regular traffic. A number of Velo Taxis – those highly popular vehicles already well-known in Berlin – and two eTukTuks – those quiet rickshaws from Asia that are destined to conquer the streets of Berlin very soon – participated in the parade.

Of course, a number of Segways was also be on hand and for rent via Yoove Mobility GmbH. 

Lautlos durch Deutschland GmbH  made also available two electric cars from their fleet of vehicles.

Members of the be Berlin team will also be there! Many Berliners participated in the competition, but only five lucky motorcycle enthusiasts won a chance to drive an eROCKIT: Djamila Fischer, Kim Homann, Veronika Kaiser, Philipp Leinenbach aund Heinz Simmerl.
