Berlin Days in China from May 31 to June 5, 2010

Berlin is innovative, creative and always in motion – and, this year, the city will be on hand at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. The motto of this year’s world exhibition is “Better City, Better Life.” Business representatives and creative professionals from Berlin will be showcasing their activities at the Berlin Days at the Expo in Shanghai as well as at an economic conference in Shenzen. At both events, they will give the world a taste of how innovative Berlin companies deal with this urban theme.

    Monday, May 31 - the place to be for business.

    On May 31 be Berlin kicked off the Berlin Days in China with an investors conference and an envening reception in Shanghai.     Tuesday, June 1 - the place to be for creativity.

    The Berlin Days were officially opened at the Expo in Shanghai. The first day was devoted entirely to art and design, and the evening was celebrated with an exciting Berlin Night featuring a well-known Berlin DJ. For program information, video and pictures, click here. more

    Wednesday, June 2 - the place to be for business.

    be Berlin in Shenzen: Harald Wolf, Mayor of Berlin and Senator for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, welcomed a group of invited guests at an evening reception. For program information, videos and pictures, click here. more

    Thursday, June 3 - the place to be for business.

    On the fourth day of the Berlin Days in China, the focus was on an economic conference covering the theme of "Berlin Business Know-How for Modern and Sustainable Urban Environments". For program information, video material and pictures click here. more

    Saturday, June 5 - the place to be for creativity.

    The final day of the Berlin Days in China had the motto "Open Your Eyes and See". It refers to an exhibition that was officially opened at the German Pavilion on the Expo grounds in Shanghai. For program information, video and picture material click here. more

    Berlin carried its creativity out into the world: In Shanghai, which only recently joined the circle of Unesco acclaimed "Cities of Design," Berlin was the third German federal state to present itself as part of the German Pavilion "balancity" at the Expo 2010! Read more more

    Berliner composes finale for the Expo’s opening ceremony

    The sounds of orchestral pieces written by the young Berlin composer Christian Steinhäuser will accompany the fireworks finale at the Shanghai Expo’s opening ceremonies on April 30, 2010. The music was recorded with the German Film Orchestra at Studio Babelsberg. Read more more

    From Beijing to Berlin

    Gouhua Shi has been living in Berlin since 2003, and he never regretted his decision. "I feel more at home here than in any other city in Germany," says Gouhua Shi.
