Berlin LIVE in Washington
12.09.2012 to 31.10.2012
Prestigious events that highlight Berlin are taking place around the world. Through these events, exciting cooperative projects are forming between Berliners and German institutions abroad. They show this exciting metropolis as the cosmopolitan, creative and diverse city that it is, and they allow for people in other parts of the world to experience Berlin’s flair. With the international project series Berlin LIVE, the capital’s be Berlin campaign supports selected Berlin events abroad. These events become an authentic part of Berlin because they bring the dynamic vitality of the German capital to other regions of the world.
“Rediscovering Berlin” is one such exciting type of cooperation: Washington and Berlin, two international metropolises, have been linked through a great deal of history over the past decades. The Goethe-Institut Washington has put together a Berlin program that shines a new light on this alliance. One of the events includes the exhibition “Parks & Passages: Inspiration from Berlin for Washington’s Dupont Underground,” which came to pass through an intense dialogue between Berlin and Washington. The exhibition examines the creative (and sustainable) use of public space. This is merely one part of a very impressive Berlin program.
